What is it?
Debuted at the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK, the Lamborghini Aventador Miura Homage was launch to commemorate the Miura’s 50th anniversary since first incepted in 1966. The special edition Aventador pays tribute and evokes the company’s first mid-engined supercar through a selection of retrospective two-tone paint scheme and trim combinations that matches its iconic predecessor.
With the original color and trim of the Miura, along with its vintage interior upholstery, the Aventador Miura Homage sets out to redefine the classic supercar experience of the modern era. It further demonstrates the company looks to the future without forgetting its roots. The Lamborghini Aventador Miura Homage will be rarer than the car it honors: only 50 will be made, versus 764.
Super Treasure Hunt
The mainline Lamborghini Aventador Miura Homage was released along with a Super Treasure Hunt version in 2018 from K Case mix mainline cases. Number 239/365 it is categories in 6/10 in the HW Exotic series, the original came in metal flake red paint which resembles the Rosso Arancio Miura colour with gold side panels featuring a tiny Miura 50 logo, and Gold PR5 standard wheels.
While the Super Treasure Hunt series featured a sublte spectraflame burgundy colour with the gold side panels, resembling the “Ironman” theme. “TH” tampos are detailed on the sides behind the rear wheels, the car has detailed headlights, tinted windows, a gray interior, gold Real Rider Exotic wheels, and a black plastic Malaysia base.
By Q3 of 2018, Hot Wheels quietly released a special Lamborghini Aventador Miura Homage Kmart exclusive for the USA market. Decked out in its corporate colours and also the original Lamborghini Blue Tahiti paint, it was finished in spectraflame blue similarly to the Super Treasure Hunt paint finish. It currently resells at a premium in other countries between RM35-RM50 ($8.50-12 USD) each as of 2018.
I had a good run starting my collection with the K Case this year, and managed to purchase a couple of mainline Aventador Miura Homage from retail pegs found around Toy’s R Us and MyNews, they were however quite scarce. The STH version as usual is no where be seen, these are literally Unicorns in Malaysia and I gave up scouting every retail store eventually.
I’ve made two separate purchases of the Aventador Miura Homage STH version simply because I like this car a lot. Paid a higher premium at the beginning at RM150 ($35 USD) which includes another mainline, and later found a US carded version with protector at RM100 ($24 USD). In November 2018, the Kmart Exlusives were released through local resellers, I managed to get a great bargain from being an avid customer and bought two of the same cars at much less of a premium.
The Kmart Exclusive stands out much more than the STH version, somehow the spectraflame blue has an eye candy colour and look far superior compared to the darker spectraflame burgundy finish. Fingers cross Hot Wheels will continue to offer more colour ways of this iconic modern supercar. I also do believe that the future prices for these will go up a lot more when they are no longer produced due to the original twist of characteristics inherit in the original car.
